Goldcar buck the trend!

Despite the general economic crisis and thanks to Goldcar’s strength in the car rental business, Goldcar are very pleased to inform you that we continue with our international expansion to include Italy as well. We will open two offices in Italy:

-BLQ (Bologna) will be open for pick-ups from 15.02.12 onwards

-PSA (Pisa) – opening date to be confirmed

This after expanding into the Canary Islands and Portugal they are looking slightly further a field into Italy. Which undoubtably shows strength in a very weak car hire market. Further enhanced by their First Half of 2011 with 15% More Rent-a-Car Operations

Barcelona, and the Canary and Balearic Islands experienced the biggest increase

Goldcar Rental has submitted its balance sheet for operations in the first half of 2011. The leading rent-a-car company succeeded in attaining 260,000 vehicle hire contracts during that period. That figure is 15% higher than figure for the first half of 2010, when 227,971 operations were made. This year’s growth exceeds the company’s expectations, and is already 50% higher than the estimates made at the beginning of the financial year.

Operations on the Canary Islands, where the total number of Goldcar Rental customers nearly doubled, are particularly worthy of mention. Vehicle reservations at the new offices opened in Barcelona, Ibiza and Menorca surpassed all forecasts, making a significant contribution to the increase.

The increase experienced in the first half of 2011 confirms the good results attained by Goldcar Rental owing in part to the company’s new expansion policy. Six new offices opened this year in the cities of Barcelona, Ibiza, Menorca, Bilbao and at the airports in Alicante and Faro (Portugal). The Faro office is the first one Goldcar opens beyond Spain’s borders. Goldcar has invested more than 100 million euros in opening the new offices. This expansion has permitted the creation of over 100 direct jobs, to which another 250 indirect jobs can be added.

Goldcar is present in 32 cities and airports and stands firm in its commitment to be present in the main tourist spots, where it provides a key service to the industry, on a level with available hotel accommodation and low cost flights when it comes to choosing an attractive destination.

Goldcar Rental is now the leading rent-a-car company in Spain owing to quality of service and products, a constantly renewed vehicle fleet, an advanced online booking system and a broad network of offices.
